Writing

Mark is a published writer of children’s books. He also produces short form pieces about his life and experiences in the mountains for the British Mountain Guides (A Passion for Mountains), various magazines and other publications. Some of his stories are available in the story archive, below.

The Mark the Mountain Guide books have been published in the UK, USA and Canada, introducing young readers to the mountains through stories of adventure, curiosity and respect for the natural world. In France, the series is published by Les Éditions du Mont-Blanc under the title Marc le Guide de Montagne, reaching a new generation of children in the heart of the Alps. The books have achieved wide recognition and strong readership internationally — a simple measure of their success being that they are found not only in bookshops, but on supermarket shelves as well.
